Whitestone Surgery in Nuneaton, Warwickshire will close its doors on Friday 24 April 2026.
The decision has been made and confirmed by NHS Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (CW ICB), following the outcome of a recent Care Quality Commission tribunal process relating to the previous contract holder for the surgery.
Further details around the background to this closure can be found on the CW ICB website at Whitestone Surgery Update – Happy Healthy Lives
Impact on Patients
Patients currently registered at Whitestone Surgery will now be required to register with an alternative GP practice. All nearby surgeries are accepting new registrations, provided patients live within the relevant catchment areas.
A map of practices currently taking new registrations, along with further guidance and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), is available on the ICB website. Patients are being encouraged to register promptly particularly those with long‑term conditions or regular medication requirements. Medical records will automatically transfer once a new practice is chosen.
Registering with a New Practice
Patients can register online via the NHS website or the NHS App. For those unable to register digitally, staff will be available at Whitestone Surgery between Monday 9 March and Friday 30 March to offer face‑to‑face support with queries.
A full list of GP practices in and beyond Warwickshire can also be found on https://www.nhs.uk/ although some practices may be unable to accept patients living outside their boundary areas.
Those currently receiving hospital treatment will be advised to inform their hospital department once they transfer GP practices, ensuring future correspondence is directed to the correct surgery.
Existing appointments at Whitestone Surgery will continue until the Friday 24 April 2026. Patients requiring new appointments before registering elsewhere can still contact the practice as usual on 02476 641911.
Next Steps
The ICB has confirmed that no patient will be left without access to a GP. Patients who do not register with an alternative practice by 23 April 2026 will be automatically allocated to a nearby GP practice, with details to be provided after that date.
Due to delays in the national registration system, some patients may still receive communications even if they have already moved to a new practice; in such cases, no further action is required.
The ICB will continue to issue updates as the closure date approaches. Further information is available on its website.
